D.J. MacIntyre's SLC-6 Music hits the heart of the summer season by welcoming Dr Green back to the label for a new single. Hailing from Sri Lanka, Daniel Claessen aka Dr Green has been one of SLC-6's core artists since making his debut last year. Noted for his groovy and percussive progressive sound, the Mirissa resident has recorded four originals and a remix for the label, with his most recent offering being the well-received Moodfreak collaboration 'EsQadar'. Also finding a home on Movement Recordings and Balkan Connection's BC2, Dr Green now makes a welcome return to SLC-6 with 'Raksasa', alongside remixes from KAZKO and Dhany G and Ryan (CU). The Original Mix lands in typically impressive Dr Green fashion, as the Sri Lankan layers exotic drum arrangements and nature-centric motifs over swing heavy rhythms and pulsating grooves. Charming musicality shapes the main break, bringing with it otherworldly vibes and a sense of anticipation which resolves as the percussive framework drops for a groovy finale. Meanwhile, Dr Green's 'Sunrise' mix offers a retro approach with acidic rhythms and dulcet chord stabs adding greater rhythmic flair. Returning to the label for the first remix of 'Raksasa' is KAZKO who comes off successful releases for Songuara and Nick Warren's The Soundgarden. As one of Sri Lanka's rising talents KAZKO leans on his progressive repertoire here with a funkier approach. Reshaped basslines and haunting vocal pads complement the primary themes beautifully, for what should be surefire dance floor magic. Rounding out the release with the second and final remix are Dhany G and Ryan (CU). Hailing from Cuba, these occasional studio partners ended 2022 with a gorgeous single for Balkan Connection, and now reunite for a sensational remix of 'Raksasa'. Opting for a housier approach to their progressive style, the duo add a healthy dose of atmosphere and swing to their version, all coming to fruition during a melodic break and uplifting finale which should fare well in the morning hours.
